The View from The Shard, Looking West

The View from The Shard, Looking West

We’re spoilt in London. A stable country, generally peaceful, generally healthy and wealthy and despite the stereotype of clouds and rain we enjoy a temperate climate.

It was 8°C when I went up the Shard today, and as you can see, it was pretty clear. Sure there’s some slight haze in the middle to long distance, but this photograph from the View from the Shard was taken on the first day of February!

Where I did have issues it was with the grubby windows, the reflections bouncing off the triple glazing and the incessant enthusiasts with their camera phones popping flashes against the glass! Tripods were prohibited but a blind eye was turned to my GorillaPod.

I’ve done the best I can to clean it up through post-processing, a smattering of Adobe Photoshop, OnOne effects and of course dragged some extra range out of the 6D with Photomatix Pro. I’d welcome any feedback below.
